The aim of the project, titled “Recycled FRP Structures and Recycling Strategies for Automotive Applications,” acronymed “ReDesign,” is to develop, on a laboratory scale, an environmentally friendly chemical recycling strategy for two generations of thermoplastic resin-based CFRP composites produced within the project. Chemical recycling conditions will be validated to recover fibers and resin matrix suitable for reuse in VARI or RTM processes (VARI – resin injection under vacuum, RTM – resin casting into a mold). An eco-friendly solvent from the glycol and/or carbonate group will also be selected as an environmentally friendly alternative to the toxic solvents used so far: acetone, xylene, or DMF. Aging and durability tests, as well as LCC and LCA analyses, will be conducted.
Project implementation period: September 1, 2025 – August 31, 2027
