The beginnings of the University date back to 1951 and the establishment of the Evening Engineering School. Year 1964 changes it into the Higher School of Engineering, and after another 10 years into the University of Technology and Agriculture. On the 1st September 2021, a new chapter began in the history of the largest technical university in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian province. The UTP University of Technology and Life Sciences is transformed into the PBS Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology.
From the very beginning of its existence, PBS has been educating engineers. The fields of study with a practical profile are the hallmarks of Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology. They are conducted in close cooperation with enterprises, which are the leaders of individual industries on the regional and national level .
The establishment of Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology is a natural consequence of its transformation. The technical origin and character of the University were emphasized by changing its name. It also allowed for the clearly defined direction of its development.
Politechnika jest także odpowiedzią na oczekiwania otoczenia biznesowo-gospodarczego. To nowa, silna marka, a wraz
z nią wzmacnia się akademicki charakter Bydgoszczy i województwa.
